Cairns Region Group Apprentices Limited (CRGT) was established in 1984 and is the indenturing employer of over 1,000 apprentices and trainees who are employed in 30 different trade areas.
Cairns Region Group Training is an independent, non-profit organisation operating on a commercial basis. There are over 100 Group Training Companies in almost 200 locations around Australia. The Group Training network employs in excess of 40,000 apprentices and trainees nationally.
CRGT’s service ranges from Cardwell in the south to Torres Strait Islands in the north, west across the Tablelands and Gulf and all off-shore islands to the east. Cairns Region Group Training offers ongoing support for all apprentices/trainees throughout their indenture term. Our field staff visit host employers and apprentice/trainees on a regular basis to monitor their training and work performance.
Apprentices/trainees are placed with host businesses in the region for employment and training for a mutually agreed period of time. This offers both the employer and the apprentice/trainee flexibility to rotate between businesses to suit workload and work variety. We look after all the administrative matters in relation to the apprentice/trainee’s employment, including attendance at training.
Together we are developing a skilled, local workforce and creating additional employment opportunities within the Far North Queensland region.
