Position Description 

Position Title - State Cup Club Wellbeing and Education Manager 

Reports to State Cup Club CEO or Head of Football Operations

Liaison with Head Coach re Operations and daily running of 3 grades with all Travel requirements/accommodation.

Home game day operations and collation of Academy appearances by Northern Pride players.

Collation of all media and appearances by Northern Pride players 2018 season.

Objectives

To contribute to the Vision, Mission, Values and Strategic Plan of the game of Rugby League; in particular, supporting all contracted and elite players within the Club in being better people for having been part of the game. This includes caring for and developing them to be balanced in life, vocationally active, good team mates, self-aware and self-confident, respectful and wise and ethical decision makers and proud of the game of Rugby League.

Core Responsibilities

Program Development and Management

  • - Develop, implement and annually review social responsibility and personal development programs for all contracted players, staff and volunteers from the U/16’s junior representative teams to retiring State Cup players. These programs should complement the “whole of game” wellbeing and education strategy and align with all State, National, Affiliated NRL Club and State Cup Club policies.
  • - With the support of State and NRL staff, affiliated NRL Club coordinate the Clubs attendance, delivery and evaluation of mandated Wellbeing and Education programs such as the Rookie Camps, Semi Pro Days and Better Choices training events.
  • - Coordinate the Clubs Welfare and Education Committee that contains representatives from senior management, football management, senior coaching, senior playing group and wellbeing staff.

 

Welfare Support

  • - Manage the Clubs relationship with the NRL/RLPA free and confidential counselling service provider and ensure all players, staff and immediate families are aware of this service and how to connect.
  • - Develop a network of other specialised counselling; mental health/wellness support services that the players, staff and immediate families can access as required. 
  • - Provide regular awareness sessions for all players, staff and families on all relevant Wellbeing Programs
  • - With the support of the State and affiliated NRL Clubs Wellbeing staff provide opportunities for every player to develop an individual Wellbeing plan. 
  • - Deliver wellbeing messages and activities to all contracted players and staff which may include relocation assessment for young players, homestay arrangements, flourishing scales, resilience journals, cultural and spiritual leadership, financial literacy and healthy relationships.

    Career Wise Support
  • - Providing career coaching support to all Club contracted players from the U/16’s to retiring State Cup players. This may include the delivery of careerwise workshops, education and vocational support, one on one career coaching and Job networking opportunities. 
  • - With the support of the affiliated NRL Club career coaches and wellbeing staff establish a network of educational, vocational and employment providers for all players and staff. 

 

Reporting

  • - Maintain accurate records on the Wellbeing and Education database (WelfedRL).
  • - Provide reports as requested to the State and Club Wellbeing and Education Committee on the above activities.

 

Professional Development

  • - Invest in personal development programs such as the Completion of the Certificate IV in Elite Athlete Wellbeing and other mental health, careers and educational programs suggested by the NRL/RLPA Wellbeing and Education Committee.
  • - Attendance at Cluster, State and NRL Wellbeing and Education Managers’ meetings throughout the year. 

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Essential 

  • - Post-secondary school qualifications in counselling, education, youth work or human resource related areas.
  • - Experience in working with young people in a mentoring, counselling or coaching role. 
  • - An understanding of the complex issues facing professional athletes relating to career and personal development.
  • - Ability to communicate and present effectively to individuals and groups at all levels and ages.


Preferred

  • - Ability to lead, develop and motivate others.
  • - Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the capacity to build strategic networks.
  • - Background in elite sport with a preference in Rugby League.
  • - Experience with online reporting, and intermediate Work, Excel and PowerPoint skills. 

Northern Pride FOGS and MAL MENINGA Open Trials 2018

The Northern Pride will be holding open trials for the Mal Meninga Under 18s and FOGS Under 20s squads for the 2018 season.

Mal Meninga trials will be open to males turning 17 or 18 in 2018.

FOGS  trials will be open to males turning 19 or 20 in 2018.

The trial format will be a round robin format. Players will be required to play several games on the this day. All games will be refereed by QRL referees.

No late registrations will be accepted.

Applications for all trials close at:  7pm, Wednesday 11th October, 2017.

Players trialling who are registered with a QRL club in 2017 are covered by their club insurance for this trial.
