The Northern Pride's Inaugural Skytrans Holiday Camp has been a great success with almost 200 juniors participating over the last four days.
From Monday through to today juniors have taken part in Rugby League skills & drills while also learning about fire safety, nutrition, strength and conditioning as well as many other life skills. Take Pride Program Co-ordinator Chey Bird said "the response to this camp has been overwhelming and in almost all cases the participants have been examplary. the participants have learnt a lot in terms of Rugby League and also becoming good young citizens." He added "we hope to make this an annual event after the success of the past week. A lot of work went into this Holiday Camp and I would personally like to thank all who have sponsored and helped throughout the week. It has been much appreciated and allowed a great initiative to work so well." Rugby League is certainly very strong in Far North Queensland and with some of the skills on show the Skill360 Northern Pride will be strong for many years to come. |

The Skill360 Northern Pride went down 30-18 to the Sunshine Coast Sea Eagles yesterday afternoon at Stockland Park on the Sunshine Coast. The day started off poorly for the Pride with Chris Sheppard succumbing to a hamstring injury in the warm-up with Quincy To'o To'o moving into the playmaking role. The game also started poorly with the Sea Eagles jumping out to a 12-nil lead in the first 20 minutes of the game before the Pride consolidated and played some good footy to score tries through Rod Jensen and Greg Byrnes to head into half-time at 12-all. Head Coach Andrew Dunemann spoke at half-time about his "pleasure with the effort and attitude required to get back into the game after such a slow start and the need to continue it while sticking to the game plan to come away with a valuable two points." |
